Projects-past and present

In collaboration with its partners, Arise India Foundation organized a multimedia slideshow entitled ‘Discovering Ganesh’ in the United Nations celebrating one of India’s most beloved deities and the Ganapathi festival. Anchored on the photographs of the award winning photographer, Shana Dressler, and an opening devotional dance to Ganesh by renowned Kuchipudi dancer, K. A, Shoba, the history, background and context for the slideshow were given by Rahul Sur. Partners for this event included the India Tourist Office, New York and Incredible India and the UNSRC Photographic Society.

Arise India Foundation is also working in collaboration with Adharshila in New Delhi for empowering communities living in underpriveleged areas by imparting vocational training to youth.

Mahatma Gandhi Health and Peace Walk

On October 2, 2010, Arise India Foundation organized the first Mahatma Gandhi Health and Peace Walk in Marcus Garvey Park, Manhattan, New York. The goal of the Walk is to encourage people to follow the example of Mahatma Gandhi to exercise every day to enhance their wellness, fight diabetes and heart disease. The slogan of the Walk is: "In His Footsteps--For Your Health." This is a continuing project.
